“Will a
silencer affect the accuracy of my gun?”
A well-made silencer should not affect the accuracy of the gun it is
fitted to. The aiming point will alter requiring you to make adjustments to your
scope between shooting with a silencer and without.
It is all to do with the flexing of the
barrel when a shot is fired and will vary from setup to setup, but will be
consistent for a given setup.
“Will a
silencer work on high velocity loads?”
The
only way to remove the sonic crack of a bullet is to utilise subsonic
ammunition.
The
pressure wave, produced by the rapidly expanding propellant gases is the only
noise component that any
suppressor/silencer can reduce. The
suppressor reduces noise by two mechanisms.
The first is it slows the release, through expansion and turbulence, of
high-pressure propellant gases that we perceive as a "bang".
The second is due to Newton's Law of Thermodynamics (“Energy can neither
be created nor destroyed. It can
only be converted from one form to another.”), where some of the kinetic energy
of the noise impulse is converted to heat.
Having said all that, the sonic crack is not directional sound which means that your target animal will have very little idea of the direction the shot
came from.
“How is the silencer attached to my gun?”
Your gun needs to be threaded ½ x 20 UNF. We do not do threading
work and so your best options are to check your local yellow pages for a gunsmith or
ask at your local gun shop.
Avoid the temptation to get someone not experienced at the job to do it.
You have spent good money to get this far, why spoil things now?
“How do I
clean my Hushpro?”
Cleaning when necessary can best be done by soaking in gun
cleaning
or
similar
solvent and then a blow out with an air hose.
Disassembly is not recommended.
Make sure that there is no solvent or any other
fluid left inside.
Then a light spray through with gun
lubricant.
